1) Twitter
Twitter is a popular social media platform where anyone with a profile can create a post in just a few seconds. Anyone with a profile can "tweet"anything ranging from a new words about their day too breaking news. I enjoy using twitter because I can get immediate updates on breaking news straight to my phone. It is easy to read the short tweets just to stay updated and save the long detailed news reports for later. Twitter is the first place I check for any new news because it is such a fast, easy way to stay informed.
2) Instagram
Instagram is another social media platform that also keeps me updated on the latest breaking news. It is usually used for posting pictures with small captions, but within the past few years it has changed to videos and picture series. On instagram I am able to follow local and global news reports and they are constantly posting updates. Instagram is not my number one news source because it was not created to send constant updates like twitter was, but I do find it easy and reliable to use as a news resource.
3) Snap Chat / Buzzfeed
I get my news from the social media app snapchat, that is paired with buzzfeed. Buzzfeed provides a lot of gossip news and social media drama. Snap chat also sometimes gives updates on current political issues. Snap chat is not the most reliable news resource for correct and true information, but it is fun to read and I enjoy staying caught up on all the celebrity news, drama, and scandals.
4) WRAL
Durham, North Carolina is my hometown, and WRAL is the local news channel. WRAL is a live and reliable news channel that provides weather, local and national news updates. I am able to get breaking news updates on large events and weather. I enjoy reading articles and posts on WRAL because they are a quick way to stay caught up on all the local events, both good and bad. WRAL goes to a lot of events around Durham and Raleigh and does live streams from them.

5) CNN
CNN is a news website that gives US and World news. They tend to focus heavily on political news for both the US President and other leaders around the world. CNN is my go to place to get updates on the president and his most recent issues, and where he is traveling too. CNN is also a resource for national weather alerts, health, entertainment, sports and travel. They stay up to date on current sporting events and give updated statistics. They also give updates on current economic issues around the world.

In my Media Law and Literacy class, we watched a 25 minute video, separated into two parts on the Supreme Court, and how laws are created. The video included basic information on how laws are are made, and also included interviews with Supreme Court Justices. The current Justices have over 200 years of experience that they are able to use as a resource in making the right decisions when voting on future laws in America. All of the Justices respect each other, and shake hands before sitting down with one another. Though they sometimes disagree on the future of our country, they share a common ground of wanting to create better laws for America. It is a huge honor to be appointed by a President to serve on the Supreme Court. It is the job of the current or upcoming President to appoint, or nominate a new person to serve on the court if their is an opening due to one member retiring or leaving the seat. Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are all examples of social media sites that are sweeping the nation. These apps are starting to bring in more and more young people, and generating more early adaptors. It seems as if more and more young students are using smart phones and tablets, allowing them to be apart of the social media world. We live in a time period that we have both early adaptors and laggers who want nothing to do with social media. The world is heavily saturated with using social media, though there are still some people who do not want to have their lives put online. Social media has had a huge impact on the way we are able to communicate with people whom we are close with, and old friends that we have not seen since high school.
