Shane Dawson's Conspiracies

Shane Dawson, a very popular YouTube star has recently began a YouTube series on his channel investigating many conspiracies that are trending on social media and in the news. I was completely shocked at the conspiracies brought up in this video. There have only been two videos released thus far and each are about 90 minutes long. Shane exposes mysteries about the California wild fires, Disney's Frozen, subliminal messages in children's TV shows, the FaceTime hack, and Chucky Cheese's pizza. All of these conspiracies were disturbing in different ways.


The most shocking, and interesting conspiracy that Shane mentioned is about the movie Frozen. It's a myth that when Walt Disney passed away, his head was frozen somewhere that only a few people know about. While this may not be true, many people are interested in finding out about it. Shane introduced the idea that they created the movie Frozen so that when the words "Disney" and "Frozen" were searched together online, all of the articles would be covered up and deeply hidden behind all of the information about the movie. Within the movie, Shane points out there are many scenes referencing heads. There is a screen when the princess has snow fall on her head, and when the snowman's head actually falls off.

A incredibly disturbing idea discussed in the series is about Chucky Cheese, a children's arcade and pizza restaurant. Shane discovered that Chucky Cheese may not be serving the fresh pizza they advertise. The video shows many pictures of pizzas being put together where none of the slices are the same size, and none of the cuts match with other cuts. The conspiracy is that they take left overs from separate pizzas that are left over from customers, and piece them back together to reserve as a new pizza. Now that is disgusting.... They are taking random slices of pizza that have already been touched, and reserving them to new guests.

Finally, Shane begins to film himself walking around neighborhoods effected by the California Wild Fires. I had never really taken the time to look into what the final damage was to the homes and areas affected by them. Shane takes his camera and videos different streets and parks that were burnt, but interestingly enough, some of the neighborhoods were only partially effected. Some houses were completely too the ground but their mailboxes and yards were completely fine. Shane thinks maybe the government or home owners actually kept the fire burning. How is it possible that the trees between homes were standing after the houses had been burned to the ground? I don't know what I think about this conspiracy but I did find it interesting the way Shane explained it.

On April 10, 2019 around 10:20 a.m a gas leak turned into a  deadly gas explosion in my hometown, Durham North Carolina. When I was sitting in class at High Point University, I got a text from my bother who is a police officer, with the link to a live feed. I was stunned and scared with what I was watching on the news. I watched the live stream through my entire class and was texting all of my friends that were in Durham making sure they were safe.  The location where the explosion occurred was in Downtown Durham, a block down from my place of work. How Laws Are Made

In my Media Law and Literacy class, we watched a 25 minute video, separated into two parts on the Supreme Court, and how laws are created. The video included basic information on how laws are are made, and also included interviews with Supreme Court Justices. The current Justices have over 200 years of experience that they are able to use as a resource in making the right decisions when voting on future laws in America. All of the Justices respect each other, and shake hands before sitting down with one another. Though they sometimes disagree on the future of our country, they share a common ground of wanting to create better laws for America. It is a huge honor to be appointed by a President to serve on the Supreme Court. It is the job of the current or upcoming President to appoint, or nominate a new person to serve on the court if their is an opening due to one member retiring or leaving the seat. Awareness

During my Media Law and Literacy class, we were split into groups and tasked to give a presentation on different topics. I found the group that presented on the topic of Awareness to be incredibly informative, and interesting. The topics they covered in their Power Point were propaganda, disinformation, Smith-Mundt Act, total information awareness, false flag, and five eyes. Some of these topics I was familiar with, and some were new information to me. Propaganda: Propaganda is biased information to publicize a political cause or point of view. All advertisements that are being used to promote something are considered to be propaganda. There are a few different types of propaganda. There is bandwagon, testimonial, transfer, repetition, and emotional words. Bandwagon persuades people to do one thing or another because many other people are doing it.
